Should You Buy Near Bridge Lake, Sheridan Lake, or Deka Lake for Family Camping?

A lot of buyers start with the same thought.

They want a place in Interlakes where the family can camp, get outside, and actually use the property now instead of just talking about it.

So they start looking around Bridge Lake, Sheridan Lake, and Deka Lake.

That makes sense. But here’s where people get stuck. They start comparing lake names before they get clear on what kind of family camping setup they really want.

I’m Amanda Oldfield, a REALTOR® in the Interlakes and 100 Mile region, and I help buyers narrow that down before they waste time on the wrong trips and the wrong listings. If you’re trying to decide where to focus for family camping property, here’s how I’d think about it.

Start with your family, not the lake name

A lot of buyers assume the question is, “Which lake is best?”

Usually it’s more like, “Which area fits how we camp and spend time together?”

Do you want:

  • easy weekends with less hassle

  • room for kids and grandkids

  • lake time to be central

  • more privacy than activity

  • a place you can camp on now and maybe build on later

That matters more than people think.

Bridge Lake, Sheridan Lake, and Deka Lake can all work

The better question is what kind of setup fits your family best.

Some buyers want the lake to be a huge part of the experience. Some want space and quiet first, with the lake as more of a bonus. Some want easier access. Some want a lot that works better for camping now and building later.

That’s why I wouldn’t choose by name alone.

What I’d check first

Before getting attached to one area, I’d ask:

  • does the lot actually work for camping now

  • is there usable space for the family

  • how does access feel

  • does the area fit our style better

  • would we still like this setup after the first exciting summer

Final thoughts

The best area for family camping in Interlakes is usually the one that fits how your family actually wants to use the property, not just the lake name you heard first.
